Gert Brussaard was born in Zegveld, the Netherlands,
on October 5, 1942. He received the Masters Degree in Electrical
engineering from Delft University of Technology in 1966.
He obtained his PhD degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain,
Belgium, in 1985 on a thesis titled "Radiometry - A Useful Prediction
Tool?", concluding a 10-year research project in radiometry.

From October 1988 to July 2002 he was Full Professor in
Radiocommunications at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e),
the Netherlands, in the Division Telecommunication Technology and
Electromagnetics of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
In recent years he was Chair of the COST Domain Committee ICT, Chair of ITU-R Working
Party 3J (Propagation Fundamentals), and President
of the International Radio Science Union (URSI).
He is Member of the Health Council of the Netherlands.
He is Senior Member of the IEEE, member of the Royal Institute of
Engineers of the Netherlands and member of the Netherlands Radio
Engineering and Electronics Society.
